What the ISEE measures

The Lower, Middle and Upper Level ISEE have four scored multiple-choice sections plus an unscored essay that is sent to schools.

SectionWhat your child sees
Verbal ReasoningSynonyms and sentence completions
Quantitative ReasoningWord problems and, at Middle and Upper Level, quantitative comparisons
Reading ComprehensionPassages followed by questions
Mathematics AchievementGrade-level math problems
EssayA written response to a prompt, unscored

A score you can plan around

Most practice sites count right answers. Ours estimates where your child actually stands. Every question in the full diagnostic has a measured difficulty, so the result is a percentile range with an honest margin of error, not a raw count.

You'll see which sections are strong, which need work, and how many weeks of practice are realistic before test day.

Questions parents ask

Is this official ISEE material?

No. Every question is written by our team to match the published format of the ISEE. Real test questions are secure and never released, so any site offering "actual test questions" is either using the publisher's licensed practice set or breaking the rules.

Does practice actually help?

Some, and honestly less than people hope. Research on cognitive and admissions tests finds that familiarity with the format raises scores by roughly a quarter of a standard deviation on average. The bigger benefit is a calm child who has seen every question type before test day.

How long does the full diagnostic take?

About 40 minutes, done at home in one sitting. You get the report immediately.
